Mid-term Info

This mid-term exam will take place on Friday, 12th November 2009 at 10 am in the Post Hall classroom. It will last for 50 minutes and comprise two sections: short-answer questions and an essay question.

  2. Mid term exam (quiz) This will take place on: Friday 12th November 2009 from 10 am in the Post Hall classroom that we have lectures in It will last for 50 minutes It will comprise two sections

  3. Form of the exam First section: Will be a series of short answer questions Second section: You will answer 1 essay question from a choice of four

  4. An Example of the form of Section 1 S1. Short answer questions (answer each question) (Total 50%) 1. In the picture below what is it of, who is in the picture and what does it show? 2. Can you name four different ‘client kingdoms’ of Rome (8%) and for one of these kingdoms can you give the name of a King (2%)? 3. Name and briefly describe the three main types of Roman road construction found in the Near East? Where might each type be found? 4. Name up to five types of monuments, buildings and other human activities that would you expect to encounter on the outside of a Roman city?

  5. An Example of the form of Section 2 S3. Choose one of the following three essay questions (50%) 1. What do we know about the city Dura Europas? 2. How were Roman cities in the Near East used by local elites? 3. What was the caravan trade and how is Palmyra connected to it? Essay must be in coherent sentences: no bullet points or statements Must be in the form of an essay: with clear Introduction and conclusion. Revision strategy: 1. Know the information given in the lectures to answer Section 1 fully and help in Section 2 2. Study 3 to 4 topics/subjects in more detail to answer an essay question in Section 2
