Fish, Amphibians, & Reptiles • Fish, amphibians and reptiles are all cold-blooded. This means that the temperature of their body is the same as their environment.
Birds & Mammals • Birds and mammals are warm-blooded animals. Their body temperature is maintained at a particular temperature. • These animals use lots of energy to maintain their temperature.
Why do cold-blooded animals not live in very cold environments?
Characteristics of Fish • There are three types of fish: • Jawless, bony, and with a skeleton softer than bone • An example of a jawless fish is the hagfish
Characteristics of Fish • All fish only live in water • Most of the their bodies are covered by scales • Cold-blooded • Breathe through gills • Move using fins • Eat plants, insects, and other fish • Lay eggs
