Health and Social Care and Childcare Reform Timeline of what’s happened so far • September 2015 – March 2016: Sector review: Health & Social Care and Childcare • July 2016: Review Report published • January – August 2017: procurement process to commission awarding bodies to develop the new qualifications • March 2017: determination to restrict is published • September 2017: Qualifications Wales (QW) announced the consortium of City & Guilds and WJEC would deliver the new suite of qualifications

Change Management – Supporting providers to get ready for delivery Qualifications Wales announcement The following qualifications will be made available for first teaching from September 2019: • GCSE Health, Social Care and Childcare • Level 2 Health and Social Care: Core • Level 2 Health and Social Care: Practice: (Adults) • Level 2 Health and Social Care Principles and Contexts • Level 3 Health and Social Care: Practice (Adults) • Level 3 Health and Social Care: Practice (Children & Young People) 80% of learners will be able to access a reformed qualification • Level 2 Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development: Core • Level 2 Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development Practice • Level 2 Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development Practice and Theory • Level 3 Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development Practice

Change Management – Supporting providers to get ready for delivery Qualifications Wales announcement In order to support a more phased approach to the implementation of the new suite ofqualifications the following qualifications have been deferred • GCE AS and A level in Health, Social Care and Childcare • Level 3 Certificate/Diploma in Health and Social Care • Level 4 Health and Social Care with Specialism • Level 4 Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care • Level 5 Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care Affecting fewer than Affect fewer than 1 in 5 learners Embed Level 2 to ease progression • Level 3 Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development Practice and Theory • Level 4 Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development with Specialism • Level 4 Leadership and Management in Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development Practice • Level 5 Leadership and Management in Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development Practice Full suite available by September 2020 Work continues on the content and assessment development of these qualifications.
