  2. DISAM’s Mission Statement The Defense Institute of Security Assistance Management provides professional education, research, and support to advance U.S. foreign policy through Security Assistance and Cooperation. DISAM is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education.

Quick General Points • SC Workforce – Approx 12,000 positions identified • Does not include the International Purchaser/Partner Community • Throughput – Last four years, avg 10,800 students/year • In last 4 years DISAM throughput is 37% of all students in it’s 36-year history (64% since FY02) • Resident/On-Site/Online Courses • 15 - Core Resident Offerings/Numerous On-Site Variations • Online Courses and Learning Guides • Center for SC Best Practices/Lessons Learned • Research/Publications/Journal/Ask An Instructor “Button” • Quantity & Quality of Training Opportunities!

Courses of FAO Interest • SCM-O: Overseas Course for Security Cooperation Officers • Expanded from 3 to 4 weeks (FY12); More exercise vice lecture driven. • Greater SC (Title 10) curriculum/SC Planning • SCM-AO: Action Officer Course for “Desk Officers” • IPSR: International Program Security Requirements • Embedded in Resident Offerings, but available in On-Site/On-Line Stand-Alone opportunities • SCM-OC-OL: On-Line SC Orientation Course • 10 Modules of SA/SC functional areas (Self-Paced) • SCM-FA-OL: On-Line SC Familiarization Course • Approx 1.5 hour “familiarization” only (Self-Paced)
