At the Staging Area • Initiate Incident Command • select ICS section leaders • set up the physical layout of staging area • determine resources, needs • start Task Force Response Plan • Collect the staging area kit • Inform your EDCC when your team is ready • use whatever means available FOG-p. 13 NERT Disaster Operations #4-Tasks in Staging Area 4

Set Up the Staging Area • Set up perimeter • post a gatekeeper • post security if needed • Establish staging area layout • two means of access • the Command Post – an area for each ICS section • away from major activity • Operations and Logistics close but not too close • mark for easy identification • Mark off areas for support needs • volunteers, equipment, supplies, sanitation, rest, medical • Set up broadcast radio FOG-p. 16 NERT Disaster Operations #4-Tasks in Staging Area 6
ICS Command Post (CP) The ideal location for a Command Post provides shelter from the elements and is: • seismically safe • centrally located • accessible • away from traffic and noise and potential hazards! NERT Disaster Operations #4-Tasks in Staging Area 7
