ERCOT 2011 Five-Year Transmission Plan Update RPG Meeting
2011 5YTP Reliability Analysis Update • N-1 Reliability Thermal and Voltage Analysis • Reliability and voltage analysis completed for all years (2012, 2014 and 2016) • 40 - Reliability driven projects identified to relieve various thermal constraints (for n-1 issues) • 10 – Reliability driven projects are same projects identified in both 2010 & 2011 5YTP • No projects required to relieve voltage constraints for 100 kV & above for all years (for n-1 issues) • List of all Reliability projects and the 2012, 2014 & 2016 Reliability cases were posted on Nov. 15, 2011 RPG Meeting
Reliability Projects in 2010 & 2011 5YTP’s RPG Meeting
2011 5YTP Reliability Projects – East & Coast RPG Meeting
2011 5YTP Reliability Projects – West & Far West RPG Meeting
2011 5YTP Reliability Projects – North & North Central RPG Meeting
2011 5YTP Reliability Projects – South & South Central RPG Meeting
2011 5YTP G-1 & N-1 Reliability Analysis • West & Far West • Initial screening results from TARA • San Angelo Concho to Lake Nasworthy overload (2012) • Colorado River Municipal Water #2 to Goodfellow 138 kV line (2016) • Morgan Creek 138/69 kV autotransformer (2016) • All these overloads were resolved with generation re-dispatch and system adjustments (PST, Transformer taps) using Powerworld • No reliability projects needed for G-1 & N-1 • East and Coast • Initial screening results from TARA • Bryan Atkins 7 showed one overload (2016) • This overload was verified in Powerworld and might require an upgrade RPG Meeting
G-1 & N-1 Reliability Analysis • North & North Central • Initial screening results from TARA • Atmel Hitachi Tap 1– Hackberry 138 kV line overload (2012) • Monticello Units, Kiamichi Energy Facility Units 1 and Lamar Power Partners Units outages caused this overloads (2012) • The overload was resolved using existing SPS or generation re-dispatch, reactive device adjustment, or transformer tap adjustment using Powerworld • Additionally, a scenario was run with all Dallas-Fort Worth area generation units that do not have selective catalytic reduction off-line. • No reliability projects needed for G-1 & N-1 RPG Meeting
2011 5YTP Studies in progress • G-1 & N-1 Reliability Analysis for South & South Central • will be completed next week • Low wind Scenarios (G-1 & N-1) for the six wind areas • work in progress • Transformer outage + N-1 Reliability Analysis • work in progress • 2014 Economic Analysis • In the process of completing the 2014 UPLAN case RPG Meeting
2010 5YTP Update • Report Update • Draft report update • Section II – Assumption and Process (currently working) • Section III - Reliability Driven Projects (currently working -will be sent to TO’s for comments end of January) • Section IV – Economic Analysis (Feb.) • Final report to be issued in March.
