Communities Connect Network Project. CCNP – What is it?. The NTIA-BTOP grants help to enhance and expand the capacity of Public Computer Centers (PCC) to provide critical broadband access to the public, especially in vulnerable populations.

CCNP – What is it? • The NTIA-BTOP grants help to enhance and expand the capacity of Public Computer Centers (PCC) to provide critical broadband access to the public, especially in vulnerable populations. • The Communities Connect Network Project (CCNP) was awarded to the EdLab Group in September 2010; it will run through March 2013. • The CCNP will improve broadband adoption rates, workforce preparation, digital literacy, access to education, justice resources, and training.
CCNP – Who is it? Project Subrecipients: • 28 Community & Public Housing Resource Centers • 5 Public Libraries • 2 Courthouses Project Partners: • Advisory Board Members • Training Providers • City of Seattle, Dept. of IT • Evaluation through UW iSchool
CCNP – Where is it? CCNP Major Deliverables • Computer equipment & software to enhance and expand public computer centers • A Web Portal and PCC Directory to promote awareness of PCCs and to share best practices within the community • Capacity-building training that augments existing services and curriculum • An Advisory Board for ongoing support of Digital Inclusion in Washington
CCNP Success & Impacts • CCNP PCCs supplied over 9,500 computer training hours to 2,900 weekly users, on average, in Q3 2011 • By end of Q4 2011, CCNP will have delivered 177 new or replacement workstations to our partner PCCs • Train-the-Trainer modules delivered on social media, job search skills, and financial literacy; upcoming are access to legal services, youth programming, and assistive technologies

CCNP Advisory Board • First meeting: July 26, 2011 • 11 members: Representatives from leaders in digital inclusion, project subrecipients, and contributing partners • Working toward defining scope, developing Board membership, creating interaction between advisors and project recipients, planning for CCN future
CCNP – Next Steps • CCN Web Portal is Live! We need website evangelists to register, use and engage with the online community • Equipment procurement final • Continue to roll out capacity building training and refine delivery methods • Review year two goals and needs and execute contracts • Strategize for sustainability of CCN
