TLTB – iTaukei Land Trust Board Our Role • TLTB (formerly NLTB) is a statutory body established in 1940 to control and administer iTaukei lands on behalf of the iTaukei land owners • To secure, protect and manage land ownership rights assigned to the iTaukei landowners and to facilitate the commercial transactions that revolve around its use • 91 percent of all the land in Fiji is iTaukei Land TLTB PRESENTATION

  7. LAND USE PLANNING & GIS • Analytical and modelling tool. • It is useful in monitoring of an area or conducting a feasibility study of a location for a specific purpose. E.g. ascertaining the suitability of a location for the construction of schools, hospitals, etc. • Allows Planners to visualise alternative scenarios to compare the outcomes and make decisions

MAIN CONSTRAINT • Today, the main constraint on the use of GIS in urban planning is the availability and sharing of data. • For Developed Countries, Spatial Data can be downloaded online! • However, for developing countries like Fiji, Spatial Data Sharing is still an issue. • “A Better Fiji for All” requires “Data Sharing”

Without planning and foresight, our cities, towns, rural areas, and residential communities will not run efficiently.
