Purposes of the Act • Acknowledge the valuable contributions of unpaid caregivers; • Increase recognition and awareness of caregivers; • Help guide the development of a framework for caregiver recognition and supports.
Implementation using the CGPL • Government to consider and promote general principles re: caregiver supports • Background information & research (overlap) • Common framework to evaluate policy, practices & programs • Consistent approach to new policy & program development • Facilitates discussion & builds partnerships
