  2. Defining Culture When you see the word “culture,” what are your thoughts about what it means? • Complete the sentence on p. 5 that begins with “Culture is ____” • Discuss with your peers and add new ideas in the space provided on p. 5 • Complete the culture word web and discuss!

  3. Objects and Culture • You are about to view 5 images associated with culture. • Write down the impressions that come to mind when you see these images!

  4. Peer Responses • Now fill out the “Responses from Peers” column of the chart. • Answer the question below it – Why did other students share some of your perceptions but differ with others? • Next, complete the box below. You will not be bringing in these items to class..

  5. Writing Prompt • In the SpringBoard section of your notebook, answer the writing prompt on the top of p.7. You will need at least 3 paragraphs to answer this in detail! • Answer questions 7-9 on page 7. • Whatever you don’t finish is your homework!

  6. Homework…it’s not so bad • Whatever you did not finish in class today will be your homework. Next time I see you, I will be checking your notebooks. Make sure you have the following activities completed: • 1) SpringBoard – Your writing assignment from p. 7 should be here. • 2) Vocabulary – Academic Vocabulary words and Literary Terms should be up to date. • 3) ELA and Notes - You should have the terms from The Catcher in the Rye in this section.
