  6. Republic to Empire • Octavian restores order • Absolute power – First emperor • Took name “Augustus” (31 BC- 41 AD) • Ended 500 Republic • Began age of The Roman Empire • Restores order and stabilized government • Begins 200 year span of Roman Peace (PaxRomana)
