Fort Lewis Environmental Sustainability Air Quality Goals 1. Reduce traffic congestion and Air emissions by 85% by 2025. 2. Reduce Air Pollutants from training without a reduction in training activity 3. Reduce stationary sourceAir emissions by 85%by 2025.
5 Year Objectives Alternate Fueling Station for use by Fort Lewis and surrounding community 25 Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (NEV) for on post use 50% GSA Fleet will be Alternate Fueled Vehicles 45% Reduction in Single Occupancy Vehiclesand Vehicle Miles Traveled What we have accomplished CNG Site, E85 Site,B20 Site For Government Vehicles only 15 Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (NEV) for on post use 55% Current GSA Fleet Alternate Fueled Vehicles 5% Reduction in Single Occupancy Vehicles and Vehicle Miles Traveled Air Quality Goal #1 Reduce traffic congestion and Air emissions by 85% by 2025.

Air Quality Goal #2 Reduce Air Pollutants from training without a reduction in training activity • 5 Year Objective • Implement the use of environmentally friendly obscurants and dust control where feasible. • Projects: • Monitor results of the Army wide PM 2.5 study • Keep informed of any new Army obscurant technology • Keep informed of any new Army obscurant technology • Pursue the use of Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) dust suppression

Air Quality Goal #3 Reduce stationary source Air emissions by 85% by 2025. 5 Year Objectives Use the environmental vs financial lifecycle evaluation in decision making process Use of water based/Low VOC CARC Paint Use of Biodiesel for backup generators and boilers. Progress to date On-going modification process Low Voc CARC Paint has just been approved for all weapon systems. Water based CARC paint to be used for Aerospace Equipment Manufacturers Warranty issues

Lessons Learned • Need to keep momentum going • Difficult to implement behavior change, daily practices, mindset, • Constant Reinforcement of cultural change • Objective changes to reach goal • Accept some things unable to change • Baby steps
