How to commit to Abstinence • Establish priorities in life • Set personal limits on the ways in which you are willing to express affection. • Share your feelings with your partner. • Discuss your feelings and concerns with a trusted adult. • Avoid high pressure situations • If you are currently sexually active, re-evaluate.
Using Refusing • Talk with your partner about your decision. • State your position simply and firmly. • Insist on stopping. • Back away. • Explain why you want to stop. • Say no and make sure your body language say’s no.
Consequences of Sexual Activity • STD’s • Unplanned pregnancy • Loss of self-respect • Negative effects on social relationships • Family disapproval

Setting Limits • Act quickly so children understand the link between behavior and consequences. • Be consistent so that children know what to expect. • Distinguish between the behavior, and the child. • Praise positive behavior.
