The Effect of BAC on the Brain 1 - 2 Drinks (BAC 0.01-0.05) - person's systems begin to slow down, relaxed feeling, less inhibited, slight decrease in fine motor skills. Person should wait at least one hour before driving 3 - 4 Drinks (BAC 0.05-0.10) - fine motor skills are decreased, performance and responsiveness are reduced. There is reduction in judgment as well as reaction time 5 - 7 Drinks (BAC 0.10-0.18) - the sense are dulled, especially speech, hearing, and vision. Balance is altered and person may stagger. There is a decreased sense of pain 8 - 12 Drinks (BAC 0.20-0.33) - the reflex actions are decreased, body temperature drops, blood circulation slows, as does a respiration. Unconscious may occur. May also lead to coma and death

ONTARIO’S DRINKINGAND DRIVING LAW HAS CHANGED!! ·Starting May 1, 2009, even a couple of drinks could mean an immediate licence suspension. ·If you’ve been drinking and your blood alcohol concentration registers from .05 to .08 on a roadside breath test, you will lose your driver’s licence for 3 to 30 days. Drivers caught more than once face mandatory alcohol education programs and ignition interlock. ·Novice drivers of all ages in the Graduated Licensing System (GLS) must also maintain a zero BAC while driving. As of August 1, 2010, if you are a novice driver and are caught with any amount of alcohol in your blood, you will receive an immediate 24-hour roadside driver licence suspension, and if convicted, will face a fine of $60-$500 and will receive a suspension period .
