CFIS Project Overview • Introduction Replace the current Political Finance Reporting System with a more user-friendly Campaign Finance Reporting System for use by candidates for public office, political committees, lobbyists, receipting associated with these functions and to provide better service to the general public.
Budget • $176,500 was budgeted for the design of the new Campaign Finance Information System
Timeline • The CFIS project was started on 12/01/2009 by the selected contractor • The goal is to implement the new CFIS by March 26, 2010 • The CFIS project went live on March 26, 2010.
Regional CFIS Outreach & Training • 1. Albuquerque – April 29, 2010 (tentatively) • 2. Farmington – April 30, 2010 • 3. Las Cruces - May 3, 2010 (tentatively) • 4. Clovis – May 4, 2010 (tentatively) • 5. Santa Fe – Date TBA
Accomplishments • CFIS Project Specifications 100% complete • CFIS User Interface 100% complete • CFIS Web Form Validation 100% complete • Database 100% complete • Backend Services 100% complete • Web Interface Integration to Service 100% complete • Reporting Development 100% complete • System Testing and Deployment 100% complete • CFIS was in full operation for the April 12, 2010 Campaign Filing Day • SOS staff provided support during business hours, after hours and on weekends for the filing day to users, candidates and media • The system included an online video tutorial training and instruction manual • The Department of Information Technology support (Gabe Cisneros and Michelle Schneider) conducted a review of CFIS • Final revised PMP and IV&V were submitted • Supplemental reports, Cashiering, and other enhancements are being worked out for Revision 2. • Approximately 900 Candidates and PAC’s used CFIS for the April 12 Campaign Finance Filing deadline
CFIS Revision Two Enhancements • SOS IT business analysts has identified and documented CFIS enhancements for revision number two. • IT director has met with RTS to pursue implementation of new enhancements • SOS will budget for new enhancements after July 1, 2010 • Functional and technical specifications will be updated as needed • SOS IT staff will continue to meet regularly to address CFIS issues needed in the new revision
