Toolkit development: Strategy Phase • Criteria for evaluating existing sites • Ease of Use/Organization • Is it clear how to navigate through the resource’s page? How accessible is the site? How long does it take to load? • Aesthetics • Is the interface uncluttered? Are graphics used wisely to enhance and supplement the text? Does the site contain original information or simply links? • Current • Is the date the source was last updated clearly shown? How often is it updated? Are dates of external link checks noted? • Availability of other information • Is their an internal search engine that indexes the whole site (full text)? Is there a search utility that indexes the Web or parts of it (subject specific indices)? • Collaborative • Does the resource enable access to “experts” in the field who share their knowledge through question and answer format? Are there archives of discussion groups?
