Identified Areas for Improvement • Strategic and consistent use of student data • Referrals based on math and reading data points • Summer Academy classes based on student need • Summer Academy curriculum aligned to student need, grade level standards, and preview of next year’s academic vocabulary • Exploration of blended program • Connect students with enrichment opportunities • Increase registration and attendance at Summer Academy • Impact student engagement and academic outcomes
Strategic and consistent use of student data • Class rosters with multiple data points • Conversations with PLCs during Early Release Day • Each student below target in math or reading was referred • Information provided to parents at conferences in January • Teachers called all families of those who did not register
Exploration of blended program • Blending of intervention with enrichment • Collaborated with Community Education • Implement pilot program with Salem Hills’ students • Manageable size for pilot program • School with greatest diversity and need

Staffing • Class sizes are created taking into account historical average of <80% attendance • Class sizes will be around 25 (31) for students with higher skill/lower need • Class sizes will be lower for students with lower skill/higher need • EL teachers will be on staff to provide support • Teacher prep time increased slightly to align with middle school teachers
