Components of Consumer & Family Support and Education • Self-help support groups • Bilingual/Bicultural referral service • Mental health related resource referrals • On-site/over-the-phone interpretation for families • Community education workshops • Family-to-Family education classes • Mental Health Mailbox Column in media outlets • On-line/hard-copy language-appropriate materials • Information booths at cultural and health events • Cultural competence trainings for mainstream professionals

  13. African American Advisory Group and Outreach NAMI NEW JERSEY has initiated an outreach program for New Jersey’s African American families, individuals affected by mental illness and mental health professionals to provide culturally competent support, education and advocacy.
