  6. Functions of Testosterone • Stimulates spermatogenesis. • Stimulates development of male secondary sex characteristics. • Stimulates growth burst at puberty. • Stimulates brain to increase sex drive. 14-6

  7. Spermatogenesis • Germ cells (23 pairs of chromosomes = 46 total) in seminiferous tubules • Divide into 2 identical copies called daughter cells (23 pairs of chromosomes) • Divide again into 4 daughter cells (23 chromosomes, not pairs) which mature into spermatozoa 14-7
