Warm Up: 02.19.2014 (Week 7) • The Warm up today is based on a video titled “How Great Leaders Inspire Action.” • Be prepared to write about what the speaker is saying and how it relates to what we have been discussing. • Question: How does the information in this video relate to the concepts that we have been discussing? Explain how the concepts that he introduces are related to our BIG IDEA: “How do words and language shape and impact culture and society?”

  4. What we are doingwhy we are doing it • What? • Today we are going to review your Civil Rights Essay. • You will then complete an outline for a new essay prompt. • Why? • This is being done to prepare for the timed in class essay that you will complete tomorrow.

  5. Civil Rights Speech Test • Take 5 minutes and grade you own essay using the rubric provided. (This will not alter the grade that you have already received.) • Now that you have practiced writing a timed essay, lets review how to improve/perfect it. • Does your essay…..

Write an essay in which you explain how the leader uses language to inspire or motivate his men into action. • You will be graded on: • Thesis Statement • Evidence and Examples • Support for Position • Sequencing • Grammar and Spelling
