8th Grade Key Points: ●You will have eight class periods each day. ● If you are in On Level Math, it will be blocked. Pre-AP Algebra will not be blocked.
What is Pre-AP? ● “Pre-AP” stands for Pre-Advanced Placement courses. These courses prepare students for Advanced Placement courses later in high school which can give the student college credit. ● Pre-AP classes are offered in all five core course areas.
BISD MIDDLE SCHOOL (7th grade)GUIDELINES FOR PRE-AP COURSES FOR 2013-2014: Pre-AP students should be: - Energetic - Involved - Self-motivated - Passionate about learning - Committed for the year - Prepared to do ½ to 1 hour of homework per class nightly
Course Selections You will choose one from each of the following sets of courses: ● Language Arts OR Pre-AP Language Arts ● Mathematics OR Pre-AP Mathematics (must be in Pre-AP math this year to take Pre-AP math next year) ● Social Studies OR Pre-AP Social Studies ● Science OR Pre-AP Science
If you will be taking on-level mathematics, not Pre-AP, you will have math for two periods, and you will select THREE of the following elective groupings: Semester Long Choices: ● Tech Ed ● Art ● Theater ● P.E. Year Long Choices: ● Choir ● Band ● Athletics (includes Tennis and Gymnastics)
Gymnastics and Tennis are offered at off-campus sites. You must have your own transportation to these locations each morning with classes beginning at 7:00 a.m. A bus will bring you to North Richland after the class is complete each day. Information concerning tryouts will be announced later in the spring.
High School Credit Electives In addition to the previous elective choices, you may also choose any of the following electives that will count as a high school credit: • Year Long classes • (1 full credit): • ●Spanish • ●BIM (Business Information Management • ●Gateway To Technology • Principals of Manufacturing Semester Long classes (1/2 credit): ●Touch Systems ●Health

This week you will need to print the course selection kit and pick the classes you want with your family. Next week, February 11-18 you can go online to register.
If you wait to register, you may not get into the elective of your choice. Some of them fill up quickly.Mrs. Holland will bring you your log-in and password for skyward on Friday.
