  2. Aurora • Students from GB teach immigrants Swedish. • Aurora is a home for child immigrants without parents. There they learn how to take care of themselves. • They go in a class called IVIK while learning the Swedish language. • The aims are to help the children/teens to get friends, learn Swedish and get into the Swedish society. • Adastra – for children after 18

A New Way In • The Swedish Migration Board has done a projectwhich studies immigrants and theirway of getting into the Swedish society. • The independent think-tank Global Challenge is part of the project. • The Employment Service and The European Integration Fundtake part as well. • Focus: refugees from Iraq.

A New Way In - aims • Spreadknowledgeaboutlabour immigration. • Make refugeesunderstand that it is possible to come to Sweden as a labour immigrant. • Discuss the need of opening up the labour market for new categories of immigrants. • Increase the knowledge of whypeoplechoose to come to Sweden.

  5. Swedish For Immigrants • SFI – Svenska för Invandrare means Swedish for Immigrants. • The mainpurpose of SFI is to teachimmigrants Swedish, for dailyuse. • SFI is avalible at Compulsory School, uppersecondaryschool and Folk High School. • SFI also has vocationaleducation in Swedish.

Job For Refugees In Sollefteå • The Employment Service has done a project with SFI that helpsrefugees in Sollefteå to get a job. • 27 out of 60 are out on the labour market. • Manybusinesses in Sollefteå are very positive to this project. • The refugeesthink that Sollefteå is a very great city and theywant to staythere.

I wrote it all: I have a veil, my skin is dark and I am young.Then I wassummoned to lots of interviews, peoplebecamecurious.” Education is step one. The rest is up to each person.
