Boreal Cordillera • Area- 432 000 km2 • Mountainous with some hills • Dry (300- 500 mm of precipitation) • Long, cold winters and short, cool summers • Short rowing season (125- 150 days) • Population- 16 000 • GDP- $0.9 billion (hunting, trapping, forestry, mining, tourism)
Taiga Cordillera • Area- 246 000 km2 • Mountainous with long, cold winters and short, cool summers and only 250- 400 mm of precipitation • Population- 360, GDP- $0.005 billion • Main activities- hunting, trapping, forestry, tourism • Short growing season of 90- 130 days
Taiga Plains • Area- 563 000 km2 • Interior plains with some foothills • Long, cold winters and short, cool summers • Dry (200- 400 mm of precipitation) • Short growing season of 80- 150 days • Population- 21 000, GDP- $0.5 billion (hunting, trapping, oil and gas development, agriculture)
Taiga Shield • Area- 129 000 km2, plains and hills of Canadian Shield • Moderately long, cold winters and moderately short, cool summers with only 300- 900 mm of precipitation • Short growing season of 100 to 140 days • Population- 34 000, GDP- $1.1 billion (tourism, mining, hunting, trapping)

Northern Arctic • Area- 1 433 000 km2 (Plains and upland areas) • Long winters and short summers, 50 day growing season • Dry (200 mm of precipitation) • Population- 16 000, GDP- $0.38 billion (hunting, tourism, some mining)
Arctic Cordillera • Area- 239 000 km2 (Innuitian Mountains) • Long winters, short summers • No growing season, dry (less than 200 mm of precipitation) • Population- 1000, GDP- $0.012 billion (hunting, tourism)
