product focus 5/27/14 – 6/6/14
Introduction Our Product Focus for the next two weeks is CompTIA. CompTIA is most well known for serving as the backbone of our Consumer Program with fundamental certifications such as A+ and Network+ initiating our students into the world of IT. However, their variety of course offerings extend to include other audiences as well. CompTIA is the world’s leading provider of vendor-neutral certifications. Those certifications are available in an array of different categories ranging from PC Hardware and Software (A+) to Mobility (Mobility+) to Security (Security+). Notes and Numbers: • CompTIA was created in 1982 and was originally called the Association of Better Computer Dealers (ABCD) • Number of A+ Certified Professionals: 980,000 • Number of Network+ Certified Professionals: 387,000 • Number of Security+ Certified Professionals: 284,000
Product Focus Notes Social Media • The goal of our social interaction is to strengthen our brand in the minds of our customers • Our social media posts are meant to be informative for our customers and not typically sales driven, though a small percentage will direct back to our websites to display standard course offerings • Typical social posts will link to blog articles, informational white papers, or free-to-attend events such as our weekly webinar series • Look for a new post each day for the next two weeks to push our CompTIA focus.
Target Audience Though typically thought of as Consumer focused product line, the recent offerings from CompTIA, such as Mobility +, Mobile App Security, and Cloud Essentials steer toward a more experienced IT Professional. These recent offerings also show that CompTIA is capable of responding to the quickly changing face of IT. That being said, certifications such as A+ and Network+ are still going to draw the Consumer crowd first. However, there are plenty of corporate IT departments who would like their IT Support Technicians to earn their A+ certification. The audience for CompTIA is more dictated by the individual course, but in most cases will certainly lean towards the newer IT employee looking to master his/her IT fundamentals.
