  4. What is Harassment Generally defined as unwanted conduct affecting the dignity of the recipient. It may be related to sex, race, disability, religion, sexual orientation, age or any personal characteristics of the individual, and may be persistent or an isolated incident. The key element of harassment is that the actions or remarks are regarded as unacceptable by the recipient

  5. What is Bullying Bullying is a type of harassment. Most bullying behaviour relates to the individual, and includes spreading malicious rumours, or insulting, ridiculing or demeaning someone, singling them our or setting them up to fail. Bullying can also involve isolating someone, victimising them or treating the unfairly, or deliberately undermining a competent worker by overloading them or giving constant criticism. Very much associated with misuse of power.

  6. Types of actions in relation to social media • Intrusive questions • Unwelcome visual communications • Unwelcome non verbal conduct • Deliberate exclusion • Oppressive or Intimidatory behaviour • Stalking behaviour • Inciting hatred or violence towards someone or a group

  7. What to do? DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT • Report using media channel • Consider blocking user • Keep evidence/document incident(s) • Contact Harassment Advisor • Read Anti-bullying and Harassment UoP Policy (soon to be Dignity and Respect Policy)
