  2. Air Force Reserve Restructure activities… 20 Dec 05 - DCAF authorised the restructure of the Air Force Reserve. Jan_Jun 06 - Established and embedded 6,000 Reserve positions in permanent units across Air Force and assigned readiness bands to all positions. 1 Jan 06 - Raised the Air Force High Readiness Reserve. Reserve squadron structure retained to provide a ‘raise, train, and sustain’ function.

HOW DIFFERENT IS THIS NEWRESERVECAPABILITY? • Embeds trained people in PAF units • Provides a pre-determined capability rather than an ad hoc one • Provides an immediately available trained Reserve element in the event of a contingency • Provides greater efficiency and effectiveness for: • - contingency support - expeditionary deployment - peace-time support
