  2. birth • Born in a cottage made of rough tree branches on a nobleman's estate in the country of England • The estate was located in Tavistock, twenty miles north of the seaport of Plymouth • He was the oldest of 11 brothers • His father Edmund, was a Protestant farmer • He was a sailor before drake and his 11 other brothers were born

  3. marriage • In 1583, his first wife Mary died an unexpected death • He then married Elizabeth Sydenham • Elizabeth Sydenham was one of the wealthiest women in England • Elizabeth Sydenham

Famous voyage • On December of 1577, he set of on the Golden Hind for his voyage around the world • He reached the coast of Brazil in April of 1578 • On May 21st, he entered the straights of Magellan • He crossed the equator in July and sailed into Plymouth Harbor in September of 1580 • he left with 5 ships and returned with only 1 The Golden Hind

  5. explorer • was a British explorer • Drake led the secound expedition around the world • Ferdinand Magellan was the first person to led the expedition around the world • Drake was also involved in the slave trade and was a fierce warrior • Drake and John Hawkins were on a slave_tradingtrip to the west indies that ended with an attack by the Spanish fleet at San Juan de Ulua

  6. The death • in 1596, he went to the west indies and Central America where he got dysentery • On January 27, 1596, he asked a crew member to help him in his armor • He said that he was going to sleep • The next day, a crew member found Drake dead
