New ATLAS technical coordinator • Beniamino Di Girolamo • Starting on 1rst mars 2013 • Workshop 108 • CERN Director and HSE issued a new safety note on the workshops that basically highlights the European legislation that has been in force since 1996 • Workshop 108 will be one of the first workshop “safety upgraded” at CERN. • This program is financially supported by PH department and ATLAS collaboration. What does it mean ? • Beginning of 2013 each machine tool will be safety upgradedto be conform to the European safety legislation. • Protection, Switches, Emergency stop, Safety instruction, etc. will be installed • A key delivery system will be implemented in the workshop based on the CERN access card rights with the following purposes : • Grant access to machine tool • to skilled and specifically trained person • Trace the usage of the machine (during week and week-end) • For ATLAS visitors • ADO/PO technician will have to participate in the training and evaluation effort in partnership with the “chef d’atelier” • The “chef d’atelier” will manage the access right to the key board • Remarks • All of these actions are taken not to make the work impossible, but safer. • Using safely and adequately the machine tool is an obligation • The responsability of the user is engaged R.
