Epidemiology:Report • Membership: • The subcommittee now has 15 members, after two stepping down (Michal Abrahamowicz (CA) and Stephen Walter (CA), and one new member joining (Agus Salim (AU). • This is the maximum stated in the constitution, but the Excom has agreed that up to 20 is reasonable, due to the growing membership of ISCB.

  4. Mission: • A new mission statement was formulated at last year's meeting: • "Improve methods used by epidemiological research“ • For discussion: adding this to the Terms of Reference above

  5. Special Initiatives: • Mini symposium at ISCB 2013(Munich) on developing guidelines for the design and analysis of observational studies was very well attended (140) • Initiative has been named "STRATOS" and a revised paper has been submitted to Stats in Med. • Georg Heinz proposed to schedule a 90-minute special STRATOS session during ISCB 2014.

  6. Support for Canadian consortium: • Michal Abrahamowiczwrote to ask for support for a Drug Safety & Effectiveness Network (DSEN) grant involving 40 faculty members from 14 Canadian universities and Collaborators from 7 other countries. • Letters expressing strong support provided by • Marie R and Willi S, as chair of the EpidemiologuCommitteee and STRATOS respectively.
