He fought British tax laws using the court system. • Special Talents: James was a good lawyer who fought for the rights of British citizens living in the Colonies.
Samuel Adams • Colony Lived In: Massachusetts – Boston • Occupation(s): Failed Businessman, Politician • How he helped start the Revolution: He formed the Sons of Liberty in Boston and the Committees of Correspondence. Adams planned the Boston Tea Party and helped propagandized the Boston Massacre. • Special Talents: Good writer and thinker, he was a rabble –rouser and good at getting people worked up and moving
Thomas Paine • Colony Lived In: Pennsylvania • Occupation(s): Mainly a writer and magazine editor • How he helped start the Revolution: He wrote and published a pamphlet called Common Sense. Common Sense encouraged the colonist to break away from England and start their own government. • Special Talents: Paine was a great writer. It is said that he was a “magician with words.” His writing encourage colonist that a complete break from England was necessary.

His passionate speeches called for liberty from oppressive British rule. Henry’s speeches influences Thomas Jefferson • Special Talents: Henry was a great orator (public speaker) his words were passionate, poetic and powerful.
Paul Revere • Colony Lived In: Massachusetts • Occupation(s): Silversmith • How he helped start the Revolution: Revere became prominent member of the Sons of Liberty.Revere gathered intelligence information by watching the Movements of British Soldiers. He was a courier for the Boston Committee of Correspondence. He also made an engraving of the Boston Massacre that was meant to stir-up colonial anger toward the British. • Special Talents: Revere was a reliable “ordinary person” that was the typical volunteer and backbone of colonial resistance.
