Current Status I • Institutional set-up • National monitoring and information system exists • Databases of all key players are not linked and compatible • Limited flow of useful information to the public • Legal framework • Sound legal framework already in place • Data collection and management • The above 80% of environmental information are collected in frame of MoEW system/ EEA • The collection and management of data are centralised process Executive Environment Agency

Current Status II • Information dissemination • A system exists for the dissemination of environmental information through • regularly reporting on environmental status by books, brochures, etc • well- maintained web- pages • Public Information Centers at MOEW and EEA • systematic transmission to the Bulgarian Telegraphic Agency • Use of environmental reporting in decision making • Information exists but is insufficiently used for policy and decision making Executive Environment Agency

Tangible Developments & Progress In the frame of REReP 1.8 for institutional developments • Objectives development of vertical communication links MOEWEEA  RIEWs  NGOs/ BLUELLINCK • Expenditures - 20 667 EURO • Benefits - up-grade of software / LAN- systems of 4-RIEWs & EEA improvement Executive Environment Agency

Future Priorities • Foreseen actions • Improvements of the data processing and accessibility - from the primary information to the secondary information, its interpretation and analyses • Better dissemination • Establishment of Regional Information Centers • Available funding • National/ International funds • Required assistance - • technical/ expert kind Executive Environment Agency
