  2. Objectives • Understand the function of a state-level surveillance and evaluation system within comprehensive prevention programs • Learnhow state-level data and program evaluation support local community prevention efforts

  3. What we do • Collect and analyze data • Identify and monitor data sources and reports • Conduct program and process evaluations • Conduct literature reviews • Identify evidence-based best practices

  4. How we use data • Identify trends and areas of strategic focus • Shape and support key messages and communications • Inform policy decisions • Establish baselines and measure progress • Conduct continuous quality process improvement

  5. How we support local community prevention efforts • Provide data to be tailored for specific audiences • Provide technical assistance to increase local capacity • Collect information on what is and is not working • Report back to partners

  6. Why we do what we do • Offset comparatively limited resources • Establish collective impact • Increase health equity • Provide opportunities for innovation • Add to the evidence base • Sustain programs
