  2. Balboa Balboa was born in 1475, and died on January 21, 1519. He was 44 years old when he died! ( that’s pretty young.) He died at a young age because he was accused for establishing his own democracy and was beheaded!

  3. He went to central America in the 1500’s with his friend Rodrigo De Bastido. He looked for buried treasure on the shore of the coast and the Pacific. In Panama there is still no road in the area were balboa made a path.

  4. Vasco’s marriage Vasco Nunez married the daughter of the local, tribal chief. Interesting fact Vasco and Rodrigo were the first Europeans to see the Eastern Coast. Pedrarias had hatred for balboa, he sent Pizzaro to bring back balboa. Shortly after that he was sentenced to death.

  5. Balboa’s rout Balboa and Rodrigo sailed from Spain to San Sebastian. Balboa had only about 55 other men on his ship. He was ruthless and made natives carry pieces of the boats he was making, they hade to carry the pieces over mountains to the pacific.
