2. APNet’s Purpose • The purpose of APNet is to establish and maintain a state level support system for those practicing the science of prevention either professionally or personally.

3. APNet membership… is open to any individual with an interest in the field of prevention. Board members and membership is made up of volunteers across the state. Membership runs from July 1 – June 30, but interested individuals and groups may become a member any time throughout the year.

4. Goals of APNet • APNet plans to fulfill its purpose through the following objectives: • (a) advocate for prevention issues with policy and decision makers; • (b) provide networking opportunities among preventionists; • (c) promote public recognition of prevention as a viable service and a distinct professional discipline.

Max Snowden Legislative Advocacy Committee • Accomplishments for 2010-2011 • Monitored and informed on legislation of interest to APNet • Testified before legislative committees • Coordinated with other agencies and organizations to address legislation of interest • Informed APNet board and members of legislative initiatives and determined position(s) to be taken by APNet • Informed legislators of APNet’s position on proposed legislation • Encouraged members to contact local legislators and informed them about legislation being considered

BOARD MEMBER COMMITMENT STATEMENT2011-2012 As an elected member of the Board of the Arkansas Prevention Network for the June 2011 – June 2012 period, I pledge to uphold the By-laws and adhere to the Policy and Procedures Manual in performing my duties. During the upcoming year, I further commit to make APNet a personal priority and to obligate the necessary time and energy to perform and complete duties required of a Board Member as well as any other duties I am assigned or volunteer to do. I also understand that Board Members are expected to be: • Dedicated to moving the organization forward • Able to function as Team Members • Productive and outcome-oriented • Active and “gung-ho” in their involvement • Responsible, consistent, and timely in meeting their obligations In a spirit of cooperation, I accept these obligations and pledge to provide my talents, time, goodwill, and expertise to help support the maintenance and future growth of the Arkansas Prevention Network during the upcoming year.
