Important Email Contacts Please read through this presentation thoroughly as it details many important aspects of our team program. If you are new to our team program, you may still have questions unanswered in this packet. Please know that each question is important to us, so do not be afraid to ask. Coaches are available to answer questions via email, or you can reach them by calling GU - around 3pm is the best time. Another good source of information are the parents of experienced gymnasts. The only requirement we ask is that you do not interrupt coaches when they are teaching. Also please refrain from contacting coaches on their personal phones. They keep a busy schedule and it is important that they have some uninterrupted free time away from the gym.
Team Commitment and Guidelines Team Gymnastics is a Year-Round Sport Because team gymnastics is a year-round sport, it is critical to success that team members are committed during both the school year and the summer. As the entire staff has made a professional commitment to the athletes, the athlete and her family also commit to the completion of the entire season through the term of: July 1, 2018-June 30, 2019 A Parent/Athlete Commitment Agreement must be signed, and should your child choose to stop mid-term, you will be financially responsible for the entire year. Missing Practice In order for coaches to do an effective job training team members for competition, it is critical every scheduled workout is attended, and that gymnasts arrive 5minutes before workout time. Illness is the only excused absences, and a call must be made to the front office. Please do not text the coaches. Dances, sleep-overs, after-school activities, birthday parties and other sports are not excused absences. If an injury occurs, we expect that your gymnast will be at practice for stretching and conditioning. Tuition will be due during this time frame as it is a yearly tuition broken into monthly payments. Based on Each gymnast will be allotted two personal days. These days should be used outside of the competition season, and should be designated as personal days when you call in. There are no make-up practices for team. Practice is almost never changed, only weather related. Weather related cancelation will show up on the app and text to your phone.
Proper Dress. Team members should come to workouts in a leotard. Tight shorts may also be worn if approved by the coach. Our Pro-shop is stocked with both leotards and shorts. Loose fitting clothing should not be worn for safety reasons. Bare feet are appropriate. Hair should be pulled back. No jewelry, including ankle bracelets. You can use our restrooms to change, but allow enough time so that you are not late for your workout. Medical Conditions. Please notify the coach prior to practice should there be any new medical conditions that have not previously been noted at the time of registration. Home Meet Guidelines. The tentative competition schedule will be sent out by September. In order to compete, gymnasts must have all of the skills necessary for that level, have good attendance, attend all workouts the week of the competition, and tuition and meet fees current. Team parents are asked to volunteer at home meets to assist with the many facets of hosting a meet. The volunteer assignments go out well in advance of a meet so that you can keep your calendar clear for this important commitment. If you would like to remove your family from the volunteer list, you may do so by notifying the gym and paying an additional fee of $400 before August 1st. If you are not able to work your scheduled time, it is your responsibility to find an adult replacement and notify the meet director at gumeets@gu-nj.com.
Other Important Things to Know: Parents may wait in the lobby or leave the premises. For safety reasons, parents are not allowed to wait in the gym area Children must be picked up inside the gym. No child will be allowed in the parking lot without a parent or guardian. Also please be prompt for pickup and notify the gym if you are running late for any reason. Mobility Within the Team Program. It is the mission of Gymnastics Unlimited Team to produce happy, healthy, and confident individuals and athletes. In order to achieve this, each athlete will compete at a level in which they are able to successfully perform the required elements at a high level of confidence and proficiency. It is at the discretion of the team staff as to which level suits each athlete based on the expectations of our gym and the rules and regulations set forth by USA Gymnastics and JOGA. No gymnasts will move to the next level without first successfully learning and successfully completing the skills required at each level to the standards expected by the coaches. Each gymnast will progress through each level at their own pace. It is our goal that these gymnasts move through the levels with confidence and success.

Many of you will be unsure of which size to order, so just trace your daughters hand and mail or fax it with your order. The company will send you the correct size. If you have further questions about grips, please see your coach. The coach will be able to give you the information you need to place your order.
