The 1st Great Awakening The Great Awakening was a glorious work of God whereby He causeda period of intense spiritual revival and conversions that enlarged thechurch with true members and quickened them to Christian duty. 1720’s - The Middle Colonies 1730’s – The New England Colonies 1740 – 1750’s – The Southern Colonies • EVANGELICAL: • Authority of scripture • Necessity of new birth • Intent to spread the gospel • True conversion worked out in the believer’s life
