Our experience……. Challenge –we mustrecognise: - • involvement with a small i! • it’s not an add-on! • we do it already! • the need to record involvement!
What is involvement? • Expressing views and opinions • Making choices • Influencing All can be done at any stage of the illness
Our experience….. Not only about: - • Meetings • Informal feedback • Questionnaires / surveys • Interviews • Focus / discussion groups
Examples from our practice Ranging from: - • Recruitment / selection of new staff • Assessment / support planning • Choosing activities / outings • Choosing supplies / suppliers • Assisting in running of service
Examples from practice To: - Altering support in response to an individual’s behaviour/body language. The individual has then influenced their support
Enablers • Staff guidance (Practice Guidelines) • Workshops • Proforma for documenting influence • External influences
