The first annual MSBDL league game was played Tuesday March 30th by the Big Ballers and the Polk Co. Boyz. There was a lot of excitement in this barn burner as Willie Lott scorch the nets for a team leading 9 points to lead his team to a 32-29 victory. Second in scoring for the Big Ballers was Antonio Brackins with 8 points as well as a few big rebounds. The Polk co. boys gave a valiant effort but came up short. Leading the way for the PC Boyz was William Dawkins who finish with 9 points. In the second game of the day the Blue Fire came through with a tough victory against the B-Town Ballers. The Blue Fire came out a blazing to take a early 10pt lead but the B-Town ballers fought back only to end up on the losing end. Leading score for the Fire was Charles Murray with a league high 18pts. For B-town they got a great effort from Andre Burgess with 7pts. The final score was 29-30 (Blue Fire). Let the Games Begin MSBDL
Week 3 MSBDL • Week 3 brought about another great day of basketball. The first game featured the B-Town Ballers (1-2) vs. Big Ballers (1-2). This game started off fast for the B-Town players. Coach Bryant added a player to his roster (Robert Butler) that help key his team to their 1st victory. A 33-30 victory over a good Big Ballers team. Butler scored 13pts while Andre Burgess had his season best 15. The Big Ballers were led by Aaron Williams 11pts and newcomer Jonh Dispada with 10 pts. • Game two was a dog fight down to the last 2 seconds. The Polk Co. Boyz (1-2) came out very hot only to cool down to the hottest team in league the Blue Fire (3-0). With 9 seconds to go in the Game Joe Volney took the ball the length of the court for a game winning lay-up that Final score BF 33 P.C.B 30. Once again the fire showed a great team effort with Mike Smith scoring 12pts and Prayer Hamilton chipping in 8. Javarious Mcroy led the Polk Co. Boyz with 13. Week 2 • Week 2 brought about another great day of basketball. The first game was the Blue Fire(2-0) vs. Big Ballers (1-1). This game featured 2 of last week MVP’s (Charles Murray and Willie Lott). The game went down to the wire once again, with the Blue Fire pulling out the victory by 1 point (30-29). The Fire was led by Charles Murray with a game high 11 points. Joy Volney also had a season high 10 pts for the fire. The Fire did a great job playing together as a team. • Game two was another great game that got out of hand in the second half. The Polk Co. Boyz (1-1) came out very hot in the second half and knock the B-Town Ballers (2-2) off 41-25. The 41 points scored in the game was league high so far. Leading Score for the Polk Co. Boys was Javarious Mcroy who finish with 17 points. The B-Town team was lead by Josh Ball with 7. The Polk Co. boys came out and played good team defense that created turnovers and easy lay-ups. Week 4 Game 1 The first game was a game that Coach “AG” Garrison received a complete effort from his team. Nearly every player scored a basket for the Big Ballers with Alonzo Newton and John Dispada scoring 9 points a piece. Solomon London did a great job on the boards for the Big Ballers. The Polk Co. Boyz gave a great effort considering they were a few players short. They were led by Javarious Mcroy with 8 points. Steven Almoza had another great day on the boards and also chipped in 7 points along with William Dawkins (7 pts). Final Score35-26(Big Ballers). Game 2 The second game was an up and down battle between the Blue Fire and B-Town Ballers. The league hottest team (B-Town Ballers) pulled it out 30-28 behind the floor general Robert Butler who finished with 14 points a few nice dimes (assist). The Blue Fire gave a brilliant effort fighting back when they were down 8 points. Charles Murray got hot in the second half finishing with 12 points but could not pull his comrades out of the hole. That was the Blue Fire first lost of the season.
