Communicating with Confidence With Annie Broadbent Me, Actually 02 October 2011
Welcome • Our workshop will for 1.5 hours • There is no fire drill, so if we hear the alarm, we leave via the marked exits • The workshop is participative • If you have a question, feel free to ask it • What we discuss stays ‘in the room’
The Three ‘R’s • Research – audience needs • Rehearse – practice helps • Respond – real time questions
Some Tips (Exercise Three) • Work out a way to ‘talk down’ your nerves • Speak slowly and clearly • Think about the level of detail the other person needs • Rehearse with props • Give the other person time to speak • Listen and ask questions • Get feedback from those you trust • Anticipate questions
Summary of Key Learning • Can I describe what I do in a ‘value add way’? • Am I clear about my customers and their needs? • Do I research enough? • Do I rehearse enough? Feedback? • How am I at responding real time to others?
