  2. Roosevelt’s Life • Born: January 30, 1882 • Governor of NY: 1928-1932 • 32nd President: 1932-1945 • Died: April 12, 1945 • Stricken with Polio at age 39

  3. World War II and Roosevelt • Roosevelt was president during World War II and while first taking an isolationist approach (although still supplying the Allies), he later joined the Allied Powers after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

  4. The Depression and Roosevelt • Roosevelt was elected just as the “Great Depression” came to be. Roosevelt created programs dubbed “Alphabet Soup.” These were programs created to help America internally, through federally funded programs and community outreach programs. Many are still in effect today.

  5. Roosevelt’s Passing • When Roosevelt passed in 1945 the country lost one of the greatest President’s America has seen. Roosevelt led the people out of a depression and through a war, all while being confined to a wheel chair. He was greatly mourned and missed after his death and can be considered one of the three best president’s the U.S. has seen (Washington and Lincoln being the other two).
