Many believe that there are Chinese characters which have originated from historical events. If Chinese characters were inspired from historical events then it would stand to reason we would find evidence of this.
The best place to check would be a good history book so lets look at a historical event in the Bible.
The Bible is the most accurately recorded history book thanks to a meticulous method of copying adhered to by the Jewish scribes. following is one possible example of evidence that some Chinese characters originated from historical events.
The Chinese character for ship, 船 ,is believed by some to have originated from the first ship ever built, Noah’s Ark.
船 ship The left most character means "ship" or "vessel." The upper right-hand character is the Chinese number "eight.“ The bottom right-hand character is the word for "mouth" or "person."
The Bible tells us about Noah’s Ark which was the first ship ever built. According to the Bible, Noah’s Ark was a ship with Noah, his wife, their three sons and their wives on it. Eight people.
This is only one of many historical events recorded in the Bible and believed also to be found in Chinese characters.
The Bible tells us that the flood destroyed all mankind and it was Noah’s family who repopulated the world. His son Japheth went in the direction of Europe, Shem in the direction of Asia and Ham in the direction of Africa. This would make Noah the great ancestor of all races.
Ancestral veneration is quite an important part of the Chinese and many other Asian cultures and thus it should be important to know that we all have a common ancestor in Noah. This makes the Bible not only a book for Christians and Jews but for all mankind.
If we were to go back even further to find Noah’s great ancestors it would lead us to the first man and woman ever created, Adam and Eve.
If it is important to respect and venerate our ancestors how much more important should it be to know who created Adam and Eve and to worship Him. The Bible tells us that God created the heaven and the Earth and every living thing.
Historically the Chinese first worshipped the God of creation, Shang Di (上帝), during the first three dynasties of China (Hsia, Shang and Chou), and offered animal sacrifice to Him. Worship of Buddha came to China from India after these dynasties in about 50 BC.
It is interesting that the Chinese practiced animal sacrifice and evidence of this is also found in the Chinese character for righteousness, 義, which is made from the characters Me = 我 + sheep = 羊. 我- 義- 羊
The original biblical sacrifice of a lamb was really an illustration that God used to show us that he would sacrifice His special Lamb, His only son Jesus, to make us righteous. JOH.1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
The Bible tells us that when God created the universe he was not alone. He had someone by his side assisting Him with creation. In the Bible he is called” Jesus”, “The Word of God”, “The Word of Life” also “The only Begotten Son of God”. 1JN.1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; HEB.1:2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
Jesus was by God’s side in Heaven ruling the universe, why then did He come to the Earth? The answer is that God wished to give us a gift to show us how much He loves us. The gift He chose was that which was most precious to Him, which was His Son, Jesus. JOH.3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Ep. 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God –
Imagine how much Jesus must have loved us to have left Heaven and be born in human flesh and to have suffered on the Earth to show us God’s love. It was such a sacrifice for Him to come to the Earth to die for us. The Bible tells us that we are all imperfect and have made mistakes and deserve to be punished for our mistakes. ROM.3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
God sent Jesus to take this punishment for us and Jesus willingly died on the cross, taking our punishment for us. Jesus says in the Bible: REV.3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. This door is the door to our heart and Jesus promises that if we open the door of our heart to Him he will come in. He is God’s gift to us and like any gift it is freely given but we must do our part and receive it by believing.
You can receive this priceless gift of God by repeating this simple prayer. “ Dear Jesus, thank you for coming to the world to show me God’s love, I believe you are the Son of God and I ask you to come into my heart, thank you for giving me eternal life, please help me to love you and love others.”
You may wonder what does God requires of you now that you have received Jesus. A Lawyer also asked Jesus this question and this was his reply. MAT.22:37 Jesus said to him," 'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' MAT.22:38 "This is the first and great commandment. MAT.22:39 "And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' MAT.22:40 "On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."
This is the real solution to all mankind’s problems, to love God with all our heart and others as ourselves.
