Ancient Sculpture of Zeus Shown to the right is a sculpture of Zeus discovered in 1680 from 1 AD. I choose this picture because I believe it correctly defines who Zeus was. The thunderbolt was one of the biggest attributes in referral to Zeus. Also, he is standing up which was one of the most common representations of Zeus. I believe the standing shows how powerful he was and that he had control over all of the Gods. Because it shows an attribute, an easy to recognize pose, and his power, I selected this picture.
Modern Day Zeus This is a modern day sculptor's interpretation of Zeus. I choose this picture of Zeus first if all because before looking at it I actually thought it was an ancient sculpture. It has many of the same characteristics of ancient art at first glance. Also, I picked this because it was the same Zeus you know showing his power and domination, but with a bit of modern flare. Because of it’s similarities between ancient art and it’s modern day touches, I choose this particular piece.
