Safe Homes Rape Crisis Coalition • SAFE Homes Rape Crisis Coalition was established in July 1994 by the successful merger of Spartanburg County SAFE Homes Network and the the Council on Sexual Assault (COSA). • SAFE Homes Rape Crisis Coalition provides services to victims of domestic violence in Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Union Counties. Their mission is to use our collective voice to address the impact of domestic and sexual violence by providing quality services to those affected and to create social change through education training and activism.
SHRCC Provides • A 24-hour crisis line. • Assistance to domestic violence victims in Spartanburg, Cherokee and Union Counties. • Assistance to sexual assault victims in Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties. • Up to 60 days+ of emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence and their dependent children including: food, clothing, transportation, limited day care, and tutoring. • Hospital accompaniment and advocacy for sexual assault victims during the medical/legal protocol. • Police and court accompaniment and advocacy. • Crisis counseling. • Individual and family therapy. • Case management and follow-up. • Information on employment, housing, financial aid, budgeting, child support, legal, medical, and social problems. • Community support/therapy groups for adults and children.
Thrift Store sales Pay for Counselling servicesandwomen who flee their homes with only the clothes on their backs get vouchers to get necessary clothing for themselves and their Children
Clothing drive • You don’t have to do it alone • Reach out to your community groups: churches, synagogues, sororities, fraternities, neighborhoods • Create a drop-off box close to the elevator in your dorm or apartment complex • Post the clothing drive on social media
In one Semester, Forty USC UPSTATE STUDENTS • Collected over 280 bags of clothing and household items • Volunteered over 100 hours in the thrift store and office • Made toiletry bags for women coming into the safe home • Wrote cards of encouragement to women in the safe home • Generated thousands of dollars through the thrift store for counselling services
