  2. Roundworms • Live in both fresh and salt water • Soil • As parasites

  3. Roundworms • Have two body openings – mouth and anus • Has primitive digestive system for food intake, digestion, absorption and excretion

  4. Roundworms • Have separate sexes • Reproduce sexually • Have a false body cavity – pseudocoelom • See fig 24.10

  5. Earthworms • Animals with coeloms • Segmented worm • Can have up to 100 segments

  6. Earthworms • Complex digestive system • Esophagus, crop, gizzard, intestine, anus • Has an open circulatory system (two main blood vessels, several small hearts)

  7. Earthworms • Has excretory organs • Exchanges gas through its skin • Primitive nervous system – brain and nerve cord

  8. Earthworms • Muscular system • Setae – bristles that help in movement • Earthworms are hermaphrodites (both sexes, don’t fertilize self)
