  4. North America Early Cultures • Anasazi(1500 BC-1300 AD • Four Corners Region • Pueblos • Kivas • Mound Builders (1000 BC-1700ish AD) • Midwest-Along Mississippi and it’s tributaries • Built huge mounds for religious purposes.

  5. Native Americans in North America • There are 560 recognized Native American tribes in the United States • Such a diversity in culture • Only got the label because Europeans called them Indians

  7. Common Characteristics • Spiritual Beliefs tied to nature • Spirits living in some form around them • Ceremonies were used retain order with the world around them. Varied because of living conditions. • Shared property except for crops grown. • Most remained small groups
