  1. Binder Distributors Task Team Feedback

  2. Progress since May • Resolution #7 • To review the process of binder distributor certification as fit for purpose & investigate scope of a system for self regulation • Met twice since last RPF • Hosted Australian study tour on seals • Representatives from all Provincial DoT’s and some Municipalities • TMH 2 sub committee

  3. Calibration committee • Barry Dumas PAWC • Karl Arnold FSPA • Theuns Lewis Gautrans • Mias Wiese SANRAL • Jacques Myburgh Tosas • Devah Naidu Colas • Owen Single Spray Pave • Trevor Frost Strocam

  4. Update on previous recommendations • Feedback on implementation: • 12 month calibration certificate validity period • Reduce minimum lot size to 1,500 litres for assessing spray rates • Update Sabita Manual 8 on safe handling of binders to incorporate Austroads experience • Modify ‘bakkie’ test method to incorporate tolerance limits for adjacent ‘bakkies’

  5. Tolerance for adjacent ‘bakkies’

  6. Way forward • Publishing of recommendations: • ‘Bakkie’ test method on CSIR website • Drafting interim guideline (TG 3) to incorporate recommendations until COLTO reactivated • Develop computer programme to correlate fix pit transverse distribution with ‘Bakkie’ test • Develop on-site carpet test for high profile • projects • Develop a new frame work for Distributor • Calibration

  7. Customer’s Requirements Category 1:Major projectsProcess control & Quality Assessment Highqualityproduct Category 2:Minor projectsNo Quality Assessment Standard qualityproduct
