Part A. Character analysis through quotations (10) • List as many characters as you can think of. • Rank your list in order of importance. • Use each character name to head a column. In that column, collect 4 or 5 spoken quotations that reveal something about plot, characterization, theme, or another literary element. Include page numbers. • See if you can find commonalities among the quotations for each character. Can you detect the character’s “voice” or style?
Part B. Short answer connecting major ideas (15) • Select 10-15 highly significant nouns that are crucial to understanding the plotline, themes, symbolism, conflicts or characterization presented in the novel. 2. For each noun, write a 2- or 3-sentence connection explaining how that word is important to the story.
