  2. The boy in the Striped Pajamas. John Boyne

  3. John Boyne. • He was born in Dublin, Ireland,in 1971. He studied English Literature at Trinity College, Dublin, and Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia. • He has won 2 Irish Book Awards. • His novels are published in 41 languages.

  4. Characters. Shmuel- Lives in one of the concentration camps. Shy. Bruno- The son of one of Hitler’s soldiers. Naïve.

  5. Setting. -Bruno’s side of the fence. • Three story house. • Forest on one side of the house. • A big fence on the other side. • A lot of big open grassy spaces. - Shmuel’s side of the fence. • Lives in a little hut with a lot of other people. • No trees or plants. • A big fence near all of the huts. • Dirt ground and no grass.

  6. Plot. Daniel and Shmuel are two different boys from practically two different worlds. The become friends and talk everyday, but the thing is, they are separated by a fence. This fence separates the Jews from the Germans.Shmuel is a Jew, and he lives in a concentration camp. Bruno is German and lives on the other side of the fence.

  7. Book Review. I lovedthis book! It was very interesting, and it help me to understand about Hitler and his concentration camps. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone eleven and up.
