MOSIS Phase III – Core Data at the Student Level Existing Core Data translates to the following cycles and file submissions – MOSIS Phase III
Understand how MOSIS will use data provided from the February Cycle • MOSIS will PILOT the use of student level data needed by Core Data screens. • Student Core will be used to populate Screens 15 and 16. • This will include students enrolled in the district on the count date the last Wednesday in January 2008 • Graduate Follow-Up will be used to populate Screen 8, 26, 27 and 29. -- This will include students who graduated during the 2006-2007 school year. Follow-up on the 2007 graduates. • MOSIS will use the February data as a “PILOT” to test various processes – district vendor extracts, district data and DESE’s process to summarize the student level data to populate the Core Data screens.

MOSIS Phase III – Walk Through • The on-line process is the same one used for the MAP Pre-Coding. • The district submission needs to be one file for the entire district. • The user will logon the DESE web application login screen, choose the Missouri Student Information System (MOSIS) option, “Agree” to the security notification and then choose the appropriate component.
MOSIS Phase III – MOSIS Data Collection Basic Steps • Collect and enter data into local systems. • Extract data out of local systems. • Validate data extracted from local systems. • Merge extracted data into district level datasets.(if necessary) • Create trials by uploading datasets to the online MOSIS Data Collection System. • Correct errors and review warnings in the created trial. • Certify created trials.
MOSIS Phase III – 3 Ways to Correct trial data. • Local Student Information System correction • Always desirable to correct data as close to the source as possible. • Download trial and correct data via text editor or spreadsheet application. • Microsoft Excel can alter data and must be used with care. • These changes do not appear in your SIS system. • Edit data online via MOSIS Data Collection System • These changes do not appear in your SIS system.
