As President Eisenhower warned: “Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed…. The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities” According to Eisenhower, what might be a better way to use the money? What are some other ways the money could be used?
  8. Détente In 1963, the Soviets and USA signed the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty- nuclear test must be conducted under ground In the 1970s a period détente, or relaxed tensions, began.
